We are thrilled to offer our students a variety of on-the-water training courses taken in concert with NauticEd online training. Our only question for you is, what do you want to learn? Captain Jeff focuses his learn to sail and large sailboat/bareboat charter in the following areas.

Introduction to Sailing

Course #1

Introduction to Sailing Course

If you’re just getting started in sailing and want to dip your toes in, then this course is for you. We’ll “show you the ropes” so to speak – but actually, we’ll show you a lot more than just the ropes.

 Cost $395.00 per person 

What this includes:                    

  • Online courses: Basic Sail Trim, Navigation Rules, Introduction to Sailing
    (approximately 8 hours of self-paced at-home state-of-the-art multimedia online coursework)
  • On-the-water instruction: 3 hours

Qualified Crew

Course #2

Qualified Crew Sailing Course

Crew (or ’crewing’) is a great option to start sailing. Learn how to effectively participate as a valued crew member when sailing locally with friends or on a sailing vacation. Be able to have active fun sailing with friends-with-boats.

 Cost $695.00 per person 

What this includes:                    

  • Online courses: Basic Sail Trim, Navigation Rules, Introduction to Sailing (or Qualified Crew Member course for more advanced crew students)
    (approximately 8-15 hours of self-paced at-home state-of-the-art multimedia online coursework)
  • On-the-water instruction: 4 hours
  • Optional classroom in-person instruction to fill in any identified knowledge gaps: 3 hours

 Skipper Small Keelboat Sailing

Course #3

Learn to Sail Skipper Small Keelboat Course

Learning to sail small sailboats is easy and fun! No prior experience is required to get started. In this course, you will learn the essentials to competently and safely skipper sailboats up to 25ft. The Skipper Small Keelboat Course covers everything you need including a proper understanding of the theory knowledge and practical on-the-water skills. Once graduated, you will be able to confidently and competently take friends and family day sailing. This course follows the American National Standards as prescribed by the US Coast Guard for sailing training and assessment.

 Cost $995.00 per person 

What this includes:                    

  • Online courses: Basic Sail Trim, Navigation Rules, Introduction to Sailing Course #1, Qualified Crew Member Course #2, and Skipper Small Keelboat Course #3 which is approximately  32 hours of self-paced at-home state-of-the-art multimedia online coursework)
  • On-the-water instruction: 6 hours
  • Optional classroom in-person instruction to fill in any identified knowledge gaps: 6 hours
  • We estimate a total of 44 hours of instruction will be provided to each Student based on their individual needs to accomplish the goals of these classes.

Certification & Standards

NauticEd is the leading international and fastest growing North American sailing and boating education company with a mission to educate and train competent sailors. NauticEd is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as conforming to the American National Standard for sailing training and assessment. NauticEd’s sailing license exceeds the United Nations (UNE) resolution 40 ICC competence standards for yacht charter and is accepted by port authorities worldwide.

American National Standards

In 2017, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) developed the American National Standards (EDU-3) for sailing training and assessment in an effort to increase the competence of new sailors. To date, NauticEd is the only global sailing education body to be recognized as meeting these high standards by ensuring competence across the board with comprehensive theory knowledge, on-the-water skills assessment, and an appropriate amount of on-the-water experience prior to certification.

International Sailing License & Credentials (SLC)

NauticEd International Sailing License & Credentials SLC

The International Sailing License and Credentials (SLC) is recognized by worldwide port authorities and yacht charter companies as the North American equivalent to the United Nations ICC sailing license. Requirements include a practical assessment of competence by a NauticEd American National Standards sailing instructor.
